Little Inventors

The National Trust and Little Inventors teamed up to ask local school children in the North East of England, to become little inventors and come up with mischievous inventions inspired by the antics of the Georgian inhabitants at Seaton Delaval Hall.

Seaton Delaval Hall was once home to some of the most mischievous, wild party animals from the past. If you attended one of the Delavals’ parties you might find your bed full of geese, rooms looking like they had turned upside down, you might be turned out of your bed and plunged into water or walls might move as you were getting dressed! There was no prank too crazy to bring a bit of mischief and mayhem to one of their parties, all using ingenious inventions to make them happen.

In 2021, the spirit of the Delavals returns to the Hall and we invited you to invent your own mischievous machine for the perfect party prank! Some of these ideas were brought to life by professional makers and exhibited at the Hall in 2022!
